Today we found out that our beloved Bodhi from the Gentle Barn passed away. He was only 10 years old, but after being raised for food and most likely due to growth hormones, his big sweet heart was finally failing him. So Ellie Lakks, the Earth angel that founded the GB, helped him to transition out of his body. He was such a gentle soul, and loved belly rubs and all the attention he would get from the Sunday visitors.
He was rescued when he found the amazing courage to jump out of a truck that was taking him and others to slaughter. My eyes are teary as a write this, but I'm also so happy that he was one of the lucky ones that got to spend the rest of his short life being so loved, so spoiled, so respected by humans. As it should be. We wish you so much peace, big guy.
Kaleo took me to the Gentle Barn for my birthday last year and we became yearly members. It's a beautiful organization that we continue to support. If you want to give back to animals by virtually adopting one, buying some hay, or even cuddling and giving them some hugs in either California or Tennessee, please check them out.
